Plot Synopsis
"The Bet", by Arisa K., is a Final Fantasy 7-based script-format fic that centers around the bet between Barret and Cid: Who will Cloud screw first, Tifa or Aeris? The former loves animals and the latter loves to eat. Sadly, Barret cheats by paying off Cupid. Meanwhile, nearly every character from FF7 with a moderate role and several characters from Final Fantasy 8 appear in Sephiroth's Cookout to chat. Most of the FF8 characters die, and everyone goes home happy, except Cloud and his girl, who don't have any memory of what happened, thanks to Cupid.
Host Segments
Opening Segment - The four captives of the basement discuss things that annoy them. Dr. Kivlington tries to tell an ironic joke. Bad idea.
Ending Segment - Cupid visits Dio needing money for his child-support payments, but since Dio has no money he decides to just play with Paige's and Trey's feelings instead.
Stinger: Sephiroth gains a whole new outlook on life.
Thoughts
This was an intentionally funny fic, and that made it harder to riff. It's easier when the author has ridiculous situations in a fic intended to be serious. Anyway, this is one of Arisa K.'s older fics. Her newer ones show much improvement as she becomes a better writer.
